About Me
Kevin Kim-Nybakke
Learn to fly in the beautiful state of Minnesota!
I’ve been a gearhead my whole life—always finding an excuse to ride, drive, and wrench on on anything with wheels. That passion eventually led me to aviation, and after my first discovery flight, I was hooked.
As an independent CFI, I offer a tailored flight training experience built around your goals, schedule, and learning style. Whether we’re flying a vintage tailwheel aircraft or a modern high-performance aircraft with a glass cockpit, my focus is on building real-world skills with an emphasis on safety, practicality, and efficiency.
Training provided in the airports surrounding the Minneapolis and St. Paul regions, including (but not limited to): Fleming Field (KSGS), Downtown St. Paul (KSTP), Anoka (KANE), Crystal (KMIC), and Flying Cloud (KFCM)
Available Aircraft
I provide instruction in a variety of different aircraft. Let’s discuss which one is the right fit for you!
Cessna 150l – N16093
Hanus Aviation LLC
Fleming Field (KSGS)
The Cessna 150 is a simple, reliable, and forgiving trainer airplane that is perfect for the beginner pilot. N16093 is also IFR capable and excellent for learning the fundamentals of IFR flying.
vans rv-12 – n44va, n92sk, N52VA, N480ST, N245EM
Both Wings LLC
Fleming Field (KSGS)
The Vans RV-12 is a Light Sport aircraft that is sporty, efficient, and fun to fly. All of the RV-12s at Both Wings are Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA), equipped with a full glass cockpit and autopilot. An economical choice to build your simulated instrument experience for your instrument rating, or to knock out the required 10 hours of TAA time for your commercial certificate!
Cessna 172m – N1519V
Both Wings LLC
Fleming Field (KSGS)
The Cessna 172 is arguably the most popular trainer airplane on the market. This particular example is outfitted with three G3X displays, GTN 650xi GPS, and GFC 500 autopilot. An extremely capable IFR trainer and great way to gain real IMC experience.
FLYING CLUBS, PERSONAL AIRCRAFT, ETC.
Yankee Flying Club (KMIC)
Wally’s Flyers (KMIC)
I am an active member of and an approved instructor at Yankee Flying Club and Wally’s Flyers, both based at KMIC. If you are part of a different club, or have access to a different aircraft you would like to train out of, I would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss if we might be a good fit for each other.
